Time 12:00 pm – 2:45 pm
This presentation will provide a comprehensive overview and review of the key aspects of both Units 3 and 4 of the 2024 Chemistry course. It will facilitate a clearer understanding of areas that students often find more challenging, including stoichiometry and combustion calculations, Redox reactions and understanding of the electrochemical series and Equilibrium. It will also provide a simple summary of Organic Reaction pathways, Spectroscopic analysis of organic molecules (using Mass Spec, NMR and IR). Progression through a number of fully worked sample VCAA exam questions are included for reflection and practice throughout the lecture, along with identification of common errors made by students during the exam. Chemistry-specific study skills and examination techniques will also be presented to assist students to feel a greater confidence in their ability to undertake the chemistry exam. A comprehensive set of all material presented will be provided for each student.
Overall, students will be given detailed, practical strategies to confidently enhance their existing skills and therefore maximise their potential Chemistry exam performance, and ATAR score.
